TEHRAN, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday called for expanding bilateral ties, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.
In a phone conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the importance of continuing bilateral talks and consultations on promoting ties between Tehran and Abu Dhabi, the ministry said in a statement on its website.
The UAE minister congratulated Araghchi on his new role as Iran’s foreign minister and expressed his country’s willingness to enhance relations and maintain regional cooperation with Iran. He stressed the need for further expanding bilateral cooperation during the new Iranian administration’s tenure.
Araghchi, for his part, congratulated the UAE foreign minister on his recent appointment as his country’s deputy prime minister and wished him success in his new position.
The two ministers also called for boosting bilateral economic ties, enhancing consular and security cooperation and fostering regional collaborations between their countries. ■
